Description
When you arrive at Noukhada’s launch point at Eastern Mangroves Marina you will be welcomed by their friendly and professional staff. Your lesson will be delivered by a British Kayaking Union guide who will cover the following aspects of kayaking:
- Introduction to kayaks and their dynamics (day trippers, sit-on-tops and play boats).
- Introduction to paddle dynamics & the importance of using the correct length of shaft and blade shape – the most important piece of equipment used.
- An overview of the equipment generally used to include towlines, clothing and calling for help, in case of an emergency.
- The Green Code and Access.
You will be fitted with a personal floatation device before taking to the tranquil emerald waters around the beautiful mangrove forest. During your lesson your guide will take you through the basic strokes needed to paddle your kayak safely: forward paddling, forward sweep stroke/on the move, and reverse sweep stroke. You will also be introduced to basic assisted recovery and using a tow line.
Your guide will lead you on a short trip around the breathtaking mangroves, giving you the perfect opportunity to practice your newfound skills, and hopefully spot some of the marine and wildlife that call the mangroves home. There will be or a small rest break halfway through your lesson, so don’t forget to pack and snack and water.
Once your lesson is complete and you have disembarked at the marina, there are public restrooms where you may wish to change out of your damp clothes. You may also wish to stop for refreshments, take in the view and reminisce about the highlights of your tour at one of the food and beverage outlets located around the marina.

| Do you meet the UAE COVID-19 policy? | Yes, mask wearing and social distancing is observed but when you're out on the water you can remove the mask if it is safe to do, but it is on the individual to ensure they are following the UAE government guidelines for COVID-19 safety. All staff are vaccinated and have 'green' status in the Al Hosn app at all times. To enter the Eastern Mangroves complex you will be asked to present your 'green' status in the Al Hosn app. |
